Residence Matteotti is set in a 1930’s art-deco “palazzo” that has been delightfully renovated to provide 4 self catering apartments. The accommodation is located in Ortigia, the historical centre of Siracusa and only 1 hours drive from Catania airport. All of the apartments have been furnished and decorated in a contemporary, modern style and include all modern comforts. There is also a communal washing area with washing machine.
The apartments are all located on the first floor. There are two smaller one bedroom apartments and two larger one bedroom apartments. All of the apartments have their own individual entrance and include: air-conditioning/heating, satellite flat screen television, CD/DVD/VHS player, internet access, safety deposit box and hairdryer.
Smaller 1 bedroom apartment
Entrance leads directly into a small hall area. A door leads to the lounge/kitchen/diner has been fitted with a sofa bed (1 adult or 2 children) and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen area has been fitted with a four ring gas hob, oven, extractor fan, sink unit, fridge freezer and storage cupboards
A further door from the hall leads to the bedroom which has been furnished with a large double bed, bedside tables, wardrobe and shelving unit.
The modern bathroom has been fitted with a large walk-in shower unit, sink, bidet and toilet. There is also a heated towel rail and shaving mirror.
Larger 1 bedroom apartment
Entrance leads directly into a small hall area. A door leads to the lounge/kitchen/diner has been fitted with a sofa bed (1 adult or 2 children) and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen area has been fitted with a four ring gas hob, oven, extractor fan, sink unit, fridge freezer and storage cupboards

A further door from the hall leads to the bedroom has been furnished with a large double bed, bedside tables and desk. Adjacent to the bedroom there is a walk-in wardrobe area fitted with various hanging rails, drawers and shelves.


The residence benefits from a communal washing area which is also situated on the first floor and fitted with a washing machine, iron and ironing board for guests to utilise.

The pricing shown in the table below is based on two guests sharing a one bedroom apartment. All pricing includes breakfast.

Sites of interest within the city include the ancient Greek Theatre, where performances are still staged during May & June and which forms part of a larger archaeological park. The archaeological museum has one of the best displays of archaeological remains in Sicily. The old cathedral located in the heart of Ortigia date from 1728, but includes 8th century Norman artefacts.

Ortigia has a number of sun-bathing platforms which provide access to the sea for swimming and sun-bathing (Peak periods only). Siracusa also offers beaches which are generally located to the south of the city and include the resorts of Arenella, Fontane Bianche and the protected coastline of Vendicari.

Please be aware that Ortigia is the historical centre of Siracusa. Bars, restaurants and residential properties are all within close proximity of each other and therefore accommodation in this area may be subjected to noise levels associated with town dwellings.

Further a field from Siracusa, but within easy driving distance are the Baroque towns of Noto, Modica, Ispica and Ragusa Ibla. The popular resorts of Taormina, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni are located north of Catania, whilst the imposing form of Mount Etna is easily visible from Siracusa and offers numerous opportunities for excursions.
